Springing into 2017!

We began 2017 with the completion of our upstairs studio and are thrilled with the results. This studio space is already being utilized for our Small Group Training (SGT) Pilates Apparatus program, personal training and our heavy lifting platform installation has enabled you to perform heavy lifts in an obstacle-free zone! Some of you are jumping rope, stretching, and foam rolling in this space when it is not in use for SGT or heavy lifting. There are additional plans for this space including expanding the SGT program both for Pilates Apparatus, yoga and our annual Youth Sports Conditioning Program.

Additionally, our One-Time 30-Day Free Trial Membership drive and our 30-Day Gold Membership drive have been happening concurrently which has kept January and February hopping! Both of these drives were designed to bring business in the door and to expand services to those current members by offering a Gold Membership access for that time period. We hope that you will seriously consider all of the services offered here at MLF and take advantage of this comprehensive membership option.

Our One-Time 30-Day Free Trial Membership drive is complete in terms of new trial members. We still have active trials in place through March 17th; however, we will not have any further new 30-day trials (remember we always offer the One-Time 7-Day Free Trial throughout the year!). Everyone that signed up during this period had access to MLF for 30 days as a Gold member! We are in the process of converting many of the trial memberships to full memberships, which is very exciting and great for growing this business. Nothing is stagnant in the fitness business and if, as fitness business owners, we do not continue growing our business, it will become obsolete. We appreciate your support and know that 2017 and beyond will be banner years for MLF due to you and all of the hard work myself and our staff put into this business every day—thank you!

Speaking of our staff, Kendra has completed her American Council on Exercise Personal Training Certification, so we now have four CPT’s in our personal training program and with Katy completing hers soon, we will have five trainers! This benefits you as it provides broader programming opportunities for you and this community leading to outstanding health and fitness outcomes!

Additions to our Large Group Exercise program includes two, new noontime yoga classes taught by Michele! These will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays and are open to all Gold and Silver members as part of your membership, or as a Bronze member, you may drop in for a class at $10.00/class since this would qualify as an “out of scope” service. We may add another yoga class to the schedule, but are still investigating the best time slot. We also added two more step interval classes in 2016 and those, along with the Wednesday, 9:15AM Step Interval, are going great! Cindy is teaching the Wednesday, 5:45PM and 10:15AM Friday classes and I am teaching the Wednesday, 9:15AM slot. If you are interested in learning how to step, please chat with me and we will set up a time for you to have a little one-on-one with me to get you up to speed before participating. And Carol, who is our certified Peak Pilates instructor teaching the SGT Pilates Apparatus, is also teaching the 10:30AM large group exercise Mat Pilates class.

We added a leg curl/leg extension machine at the end of 2016 on the fitness floor as well to complete the extensive array of top-of-the-line equipment that we offer here at MLF! Beginning March 11th, Lisa Turan, our in-house nutrition expert, will be presenting a series of four nutrition classes. These will take place from 10:30-11:30AM on four consecutive Saturdays and the cost is just $100.00 for all four classes. Each class features a different nutrition topic including Eating for Health and Energy, Nutrition Labels 101, Sugar: Cravings and the importance of Sugar Regulation, and Balanced Nutritional Meal planning. It’s not too late to sign up for some of these sessions, stop by the front desk and we will help you get started on all of your nutritional goals!

Our 2017 Winter Training Program for cyclists will begin on Saturday, April 1st for 8 consecutive Saturdays. The cost is $80.00 for the entire eight weeks; however, you may register for specific weeks if you are unavailable for the entire program. While the goal is primarily to prepare members who would like to take part on the Ride of the Rockies or other cycling events, anyone who is regularly cycling with us, is welcome to participate. We increase our ride duration and intensity over the eight weeks from a one hour ride to a two hour ride and the results are incredible for all participants!

The MLF Pro Shop is getting ready for a face lift and we will be expanding our selections! Please keep an eye out for the additions which you may purchase right here at MLF! This includes the “Workout in a Bag” products that are flying off the shelf. I customize these bags for you with all of the fitness tools that are practical for travel, and even include a descriptive workout for you to perform anywhere, anytime. Not only is this an excellent way to stay fit when you travel or even a good supplement to your program at home when you are unable to come into the club, but the bags are the perfect gift for your friends and loved ones.

As spring approaches, shoulder season emerges and summer is closer, remember that your regular workouts are the single most important factor in enabling you to enjoy your recreational activities. Come in and get in a solid workout, then go out and enjoy the fruits of your labor! Have an amazing spring and thank you for your patronage!

Cheers,
Jackie
